Meet The Board
President - Emily Baker
Hello. I am Emily O’Connell-Baker, but I go by Emily Baker. I have been a Military Spouse for over 11 years. My husband and I have been married for almost 1 years and we have 3 children, two boys, ages 6 and 3, and one little girl who just turned 1. We began our military journey at Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC and we were most recently station in Edwards, CA where my husband worked for the Air Force Research Lab. While at Edwards, I was a member of the Spouses Club for 3 years. I served on the Board for the past two years, first as the Clubs Chair and then as the Scholarship Chair. I feel the ESC is important in fostering connections in our Military Community and in boosting morale by serving our community. The Spouses Club is a wonderful way for those new to the base to gain friendships and support because as we all are aware, being a Military Spouse is not always easy.
My background is in Education and while in SC I taught Social Studies (6-12) for over eight years. While teaching, I was a Department Head and participated in curriculum writing and establish state standards. Most recently, I was a Project Manager for Brand Safway’s Business Leadership Program. While in college I was Secretary for my sorority and then Secretary for the Panhellenic Council which governed all the sororities at my Aluma Mater, Marshall University. As Secretary I took notes, established the calendar of events, managed meetings, developed agendas, and published minutes in a timely manner. I also stepped into the Vice-President role when they were unable to attend functions and meetings.
